Weather
First off, we want you to be fully aware of the fact that Tri the Midlands goes down in the heat of the Midlands Summer Season!  This means it's going to be hot & humid late on the bike and definitely when you get into the run.  Think "Dog Days"  Staying well hydrated is a must!  Please plan accordingly!
-This is the big challenge during the
Tri the Midlands race!

Swim:
The Lake Swim is a beginner-friendly, quick, 500m triangular course that enters the water from the docks adjacent to the transition area.  ITU starts have been allowed from the pier for the Open Class Athletes.

Transition:
The transition area is located near the lake on Harborside Circle.
This space is located completely on the pavement adjacent to the swim exit.
When exiting the swim you will run out over a sandy path with roots and some pine needles (we will rake the path the day before the race and make sure there are no ants).  Next you will cross over about 25 yards of pavement and into transition.  This area is directly adjacent to the small grassy park on Harborside Circle in the Harborside neighborhood of Lake Carolina.

Bike:
The bike leaves Lake Carolina from the front entrance and moves through the rural roads over rolling hills finally re-entering Lake Carolina near the YMCA and ending back in Harborside.  There are three traffic circles on the course reminiscent of Le Tour!   Click on the cyclist in the left hand pane to go to a MAPMYRIDE map of the bike course

Run:
The out-&-back run then takes the athletes out into Lake Carolina along scenic trails and over the bridge before ending at the Village Green in Harborside.  The challenge in the run is heading up the hill after crossing the lake bridge.  There is a steep grade on this hill but it only lasts for a couple hundred yards!  The Village Green makes Tri the Midlands a spectator friendly race and provides a great backdrop for post race discussions and refreshments.  This is also a great area for spectators to hang out!  From the green they can see the bike route leaving and returning as well as the race/run finish.  We recommend having spectators bring fold out chairs and a cooler with their favorite refreshments so they can enjoy themselves while they wait for their favorite athletes to pass by & finish!
Click on the runner for a MAPMYRIDE map of the run course.

Awards:
We are using Earth Studio Moab.  As you can see from the sample these awards are very nice and will make a decorative addition to anyone's mantle!  Click on the award picture to visit the Earth Studio Moab website.  Also, note that if you like the Earth Studio Moab work then we will have several pieces at packet pickup that will be raffled off.

There will be two beginners info sessions on the Village Green. Dates TBA.  Come on out and learn if you are new to the sport or have questions.
